Welcome to my Blog! 

I am an accomplished Lifestyle-Portrait and Wedding Photojournalist. Originally from upstate NY, the Low Country of South Carolina has been my home for the past 15 years and this is where I plan to stay.

My lifelong passion for photography began at the age of 16, I found myself in love with photography and documenting people with the Canon AE-1 that my parents gave me.  I later followed my heart to become a Photojournalist by attending Rochester Institute of Technology’s esteemed photography program where I earned my BFA in Photojournalism.

In 1993, I was among 99 other carefully selected students who were accepted to the prestigious Eddie Adams Workshop; an intense four-day gathering of the top photography professionals in our country working alongside the group of elite students.  This was truly a great experience, one that I am fortunate to have had!

After graduation, I freelanced as a photojournalist for newspapers in the Eastern United States. Widely published both in the United States and around the world, my work earned numerous awards, including recognition in the South Carolina Press Association for Spot News, Feature & Lifestyle Photography.

An award-winning Photojournalist, I decided to take my passion for photography to the next level.   In March of 2000, I made an impacting career move and founded Kellie McCann Photography to concentrate full-time on Documentary Wedding and Portrait Photography. 

Because of my experience and education in the field of Photojournalism my eye has been trained to capture the decisive moment in my imagery.  I am consistently paying attention to the fine details as well as capturing the emotion that occurs naturally around me.

I never regret my decision to leave my job as a newspaper photographer; I wish I had listened to my Father in 1993 when he suggested that I may have to look at becoming a Wedding Photographer.  Little did I know, this was where I would eventually end up, and I would find happiness in my work!

Although I am primarily based in Hilton Head Island, SC, I love to travel and have experience in International Travel as well.
